Land Passed Down: Stories of Passing the Baton in the Agricultural World
Land Passed Down: Stories of Passing the Baton in the Agricultural World
The transfer of a farm is not a trivial matter of money. The moments when the handover crystallizes aspirations, emotions, and existential questions. Traveling from north to south of France, Olivier Aubrée immersed himself in the daily lives of several "transferor/transferee" couples. His writing, from the perspective of men and women, describes the intensity of these moments of truth, between agreements, disagreements, and personality clashes. In the family setting or outside of family ties, individually, in an association, or in an "incubator," he accurately and empathetically shows the diversity of possible situations. Éric, Flavien, Élise, and the others, aspiring or transferors, each shape, in their own way—with their methods, experiences, and convictions—the agriculture of tomorrow.
