The Time of the Flood - Margaret Atwood

Adam the First, the spiritual leader of the "Gardeners of God," has long predicted the Flood of the Air, a natural disaster that would affect only men to punish them for the harm they inflict on the Earth, its fauna and flora. When the disaster that decimates the human race occurs, only two women seem to have survived: Toby, barricaded in a spa center, and Ren, locked in a luxury resort. All around them, transgenic species created by Man proliferate, threatening living beings. In this chaotic and terrifying world, everything has become dangerous. However, Ren and Toby, both shaken by violent flashbacks, will have to venture outside to try to survive and go in search of possible survivors.
