The Little Farm of Cap Tourmente: From Champlain's Farm to Large Flocks of Geese
The discovery of the remains of farm buildings that Samuel de Champlain had built at Cap Tourmente in 1626 is exceptional. Along with the farms of Louis Hébert and Guillaume Couillard in Quebec, it is one of the first agricultural operations in New France. The construction method of the buildings, made of earth and piles or, in other words, half-timbered timbers, dates back to the Middle Ages.
